Color Palette #45 :: Birthday Colors

por | | |

I scrapped my original palette for today when my sister surprised me with a cupcake floral arrangement for my birthday. Seriously, how adorable is this? I love cupcakes and carnations are a favorite flower; the only way this could have gotten better if she sent along a box of actual cupcakes (she's a fabulous cook). Just kidding, sis (though if you feel like baking something, I'll eat it).

Beyond that, thank you all for the kind birthday wishes! I appreciate them so much. I kept things low-key this year, just spending the day relaxing, reading, embroidering (is that a word? it looks funny), redoing parts of my blog, and chatting on the phone with friends. Then I stuffed myself full of Tex-Mex for dinner (I could seriously eat chips and salsa every day). It was a good day.

Here's a few more shots:

I was so smitten with my flower cupcake, that the little flag banner inspired my new header. I'm slowly working my way through little things like buttons and other design elements, so if you stop over and notice things are moved around here on the blog, just pardon my mess. Or blame my flower cupcake.

I also treated myself to a new wristlet from Studio Cat B on Etsy, and I absolutely love it. It's a generous size, with slots inside for cards and cash, a little zippered pocket for loose change, and more than enough room for my cell phone and little extras. I'd love to show you the inside, but had some user troubles, so check the listing to see more views.

So, that's a small snippet of my birthday. Unfortunately, my camera's acting up, so that's all I've got (methinks I need another birthday present, this time of the "new camera" variety). I will say that without any kind of planning, this year my birthday colors turned out to be a lot of pinks and oranges, and I loved it - it was a nice punch.

What about you? Do you have a birthday-inspired color palette? Or, if you don't, take a look at past birthday photos. Any colors you can pull out to represent your birthday?

If you're looking ahead to next week, let's do a palette with a swatch of green in it. The whole palette doesn't need to be shades of green, but at least one swatch should be. I'm also open to suggestions! If you'd like to suggest a palette theme, stop by the blog and use either the contact page or the Formspring box on the sidebar to leave a suggestion.

Title: SST: Kryolan 18-Color Palette (Brights)

(Level: ALL) SST, a new series where I Show, Swatch, and Tell!! Catchy eh? So this one is for the new 18-color palette from Kryolan. There are 3 variations, and this is Variety 2 - which is the Brights. Kryolan specializes in theatrical grade makeup, so we already know that these are going to be intense, vibrant, sweat proof, heat proof, humidity proof, and long wearing - as stage performers wear these kinds of brands religiously! I find that these colors are comparable to MAC Pro eyeshadow colors, but more intense. EnJoy the colors!
