So I'm sitting with my boss and our former intern, Alex, at a sushi restaurant when I found myself transfixed by the pile of crispy, wispy sweet potato straws resting atop their Amazing Roll. I had a vision: What if I put that on top of a burger?
Finally, Sean said, "This is ridiculous, just make long strips with a vegetable peeler" and then he did just that. 
My dream was dead, but it's okay, because at the end of the day, they'll still taste amazing. So I dipped the sweet potatoes in a quick 10-minute ice bath, then dried them with a paper towel before tossing them in vegetable oil, boiling at 350 degrees.
But that's a very edited version of what actually happened. What really happened was that I set the oil to boil while I was struggling with my various graters, absentmindedly forgot and was confused when I heard a persistent beeping coming from the hallway. Oh right! Something was burning. 
But no sense crying over burning kitchens. I let the sweet potato strips boil for just a minute, until they looked like their chip form.
I then sprinkled them with salt and pepper, and let them dry on a paper towel. 
And finally, achieved my dream of crispy sweet potatoes on my burger! We had some barbecue sauces left over from our rehearsal dinner, so I squirted a bit of that over melted cheddar, topped with the sweet potatoes and chowed down. The combo of flavors was SO GOOD, and I honestly think this could be on the menu of all my favorite burger joints.

Let me get a wide Nuber 6 With A Coke Next! Customer # 2: um hi I'll Have a number 3 with no cheese, no tomato and lettuce No Bon who: Dang, anything else? I got a Complicated Order! Let me get a number 3 with no cheese no tomato, customer # 2: Wait, wait wait I'm sorry that that uh Good: Uh excuse me sir do you see me tryin to put in my order? Do not interrupt Rude No lettuce and that's it what? Customer # 2: I changed my mind about that The Cheese Bon: Oh so now you Want Some Cheese? Customer # 2: Bon yes who: n / Now You Want Some Cheese? if you see me puttin in your order Why you is not say nothin In The First Place? Customer # 2: I Tried to Bon that: uh uh no sir do not get loud with me sir Do Not Get Loud With Me! Security oh no! Security! I think J.Crew's wedding gowns just get better and better. They're designing chicer, lovelier gowns than half of the wedding designers out there. All my engaged friends, I beg of you to drop $2,400 on the Starburst gown up top.
How dreamy is that tulle overlay? This is lovely Lorna, and she costs $3,000.

What a blast this wedding was! The events took place in Fort Worth, with the reception downtown on the rooftop of the Reata. I loved the theme of the wedding, sort of cowboy meets preppy. The adorable dresses were from J Crew, and they had pockets in them, even the bride's. Brooke looked totally classic and timeless. Her dress and accessories and hairdo were clean and simple, and it all made a great backdrop for her striking beauty. For the reception, everyone changed into cowboy boots and the girls donned these super cute chunky necklaces.
I enjoyed filming this wedding partly because Brooke is one of those brides that just "gets" video. She was so excited to have me there documenting everything, and that only made me more excited. And Matt, he's such a softie. It seemed like every time I looked at him he had tears in his eyes. What a sweetie!
Another thing I liked about this wedding was the band. They didn't have just any wedding band, they had a personal concert by cult favorite Max Stalling, a great musician who also happens to be their family friend. Max has great charisma and sweetness, and no cheese whatsoever. People were singing along to his songs all night and having a grand old time, despite the rain that tried to put a damper on things.
