Wedding Cupcakes Pre-Trial

por | | 0 comments

Wedding Cupcakes Pre-TrialThe lovely Miss Amanda from Is This Thing On? will be making the cupcakes for our wedding and kindly stopped by on Christmas Eve Eve to give us a tasting of some of the flavors we'd proposed. And seriously? Did you get a look at that perfect frosting job? Awesome.

We're getting married in the fall, so we wanted to get fall flavors that are nostalgic, seasonal and unique and most of all, reflective of us. Sean's favorite dessert of all time is apple pie and I love anything with Bailey's, so here's where we landed, left to right:

  • Apple cupcakes with homemade vanilla buttercream icing (which will have a caramel drizzle on the day of the wedding).

  • Pumpkin swirl cupcakes

  • Chocolate Guiness cupcakes with Baileys icing

Wedding Cupcakes Pre-TrialWe had a ceremonial tasting and here were our thoughts ("our" including me, Ashleigh, Amanda, Sean and his family):

  • Apple was moist perfection. Seriously. The vanilla buttercream was perfect and I can't wait to try it with caramel drizzle.

  • Pumpkin spice was okay. Sean and his dad loved it; Amanda was on the fence; I thought it was a little more like a muffin than a cupcake.

  • Guiness with Baileys was a revelation. Seriously. The Guiness really only added a layer of flavor to the chocolate and the Baileys was, as always, fabulous. I've had so much Irish Cream lately that I'm almost tired of it ... nah.

We're still open to creative cupcake ideas. I suggested maybe a champagne cupcake; do you have any ideas?

Love Shoot: Julie & Dan

Love Shoot: Julie & Dan

I was so excited to hear from Ryan Wilcox of You Look Nice Today Photography and see his work, and I'm thrilled to get to share it with you today. He sent over these sweet engagement photos of Julie and Dan, and in addition to adoring his photography, you know how much I love a red balloon! Here's what Ryan has to say about working with this couple...

"When I first met Dan and Julie they screamed to me everything I love about my home city of Portland, Oregon. They are totally hip, fun, and a little quirky. So for their photo session I chose the industrial district of south east Portland and when Julie showed up with a big red balloon I knew they would be one of my favorite couples that I've ever had the privilege of shooting. Looking at the photos now I really feel that we were able to capture their unique personalities and indie rock style. I seriously HEART this couple."

So here's even more fun - later today I get to feature Julie and Dan's wonderfully sweet Portland wedding. Until then, here's a little teaser...

Vintage Citrus, Part 2

Part 2 of this Snippet & Ink-inspired shoot from Millie Holloman and Salt Harbor Designs is an open house that took place at The Balcony in Wilmington, North Carolina. Photos from the love shoot were hung around the venue, and the party continued the vintage citrus theme...

Violinist Maura Kropke.

Mmmm.... how amazing does this cake look? By Nicki's Cakes.

Thank you so much to Millie and Jennifer for sharing both of these shoots with us - it's so much fun for me (and I hope for everyone else, too), to see how a Snippet & Ink inspiration board can translate to reality!
