Paper Flower Wedding Bouquet

Paper Flower Wedding BouquetI can't really fathom not having a real floral bouquet, simply because I'm obsessed with flowers, but if I had a spare $250, I would be all about throwing this bouquet by Whether Paperworks for my bouquet toss.

Back to normal married life

por | | 0 comments

Back to normal married life
I'm back from sunny San Francisco! Our honeymoon was wonderful, both busy and relaxed. We stuffed our faces with delicious food, walked until we had blisters and caught up on any sleep we may have missed during our hectic wedding week.

I'm going to do three recaps this week: one for food, one for sights and one for souvenirs. It will probably be 2-3 weeks before I have professional wedding pictures to show you, so hold tight for wedding recaps. I can't wait to write them, but I think it'll be good to get a little distance. In the meantime, I'm going to relish the last little glowing embers of my time off before I go back to the grind on Monday!

I'm feeling lost,
I'm feeling like my heart's
been carved out with a spoon
put on display for all to witness this decay of me and you

Awaking and taking the cycle of breaking up
to a whole new level
Shaking and faking like you're making a hard choice not to settle
Imbedded, I'm think headed
I shredded all the letters you sent
Don't get it. why'd you let it get this far
lights out lights out Pass the herb
lights out lights out kiss the curb
lights out lights out your heart has turned
Who's going to save me every time I crash and Burn
and I crash and burn

I'm sick of endings
I'm done pretending
I just want you back to normal
I think you don't know just how you feel
And every time you think of me
Remember how things used to be not long ago

Whoa-oh

Ill fated,I skated,
to the party faded, and I saw you there
I waited, hated, getting ignored
you stated you didn't care
Flashes of car crashed and
your ashes burning the cement
The curtain fails, last call, credits roll
we have reached the end

lights out lights out Pass the herb
lights out lights out kiss the curb
lights out lights out your heart has turned
Who's going to save you every time you crash and Burn
crash and burn

I'm sick of endings
I'm done pretending
I just want you back to normal
I think you don't know just how you feel
And every time you think of me
Remember how things used to be not long ago

Sick of endings
I'm done pretending
Tired of fighting
I'm sick of always trying

I'm feeling lost,
I'm feeling like my heart's
been carved out with a spoon
put on display for all to witness this decay of me and you
I just want you back to normal
I think you don't know just how you feel
And every time you think of me
Remember how things used to be not long ago

Who-ah

lights out lights out Pass the herb
lights out lights out kiss the curb
lights out lights out your heart has turned
Who's going to save me every time I crash and Burn
I crash and burn
I crash and burn

Testing, Testing 1 2 3

I'd like to interrupt the scheduled blog break for two important announcements...

Numero Uno: I cleared out the Bath & Body Works sale last weekend. I literally robbed the Mt. Juliet store. If you wanted any black amethyst or black raspberry vanilla, sorry it's gone. And currently living in my bathroom. I cannot put into words how much I love their buy 3 get 3 free sales. My bathroom is like a WWII bunker, only the Bath & Body Works version. Their new triple moisture body cream is currently my favorite thing. It will change your life. And if not your life, it'll definitely liven up that nasty fall/winter skin.
Testing, Testing 1 2 3

{hello lover}

Numero Dos: I got to wear jeans to work today, since we'll be moving around a lot in preparation for reunion. And guess what? Someone fit into their old jeans today!!! And that someone was me. Success!

OOT Bags

por | | 0 comments

OOT Bags

OOT Bags
Oh hello there- remember me? I'm the girl that thought she could take on a million things before the wedding (moving, starting a new job, buying a foreclosure, moving again, and starting a new job). What's that? You think I wrote start a new job twice? That's because I did.

I was lucky enough to land a job at one of the "Best Places to Work", and had been working there since last August. But here's the thing- I'm driven, and I worked my butt off to get a degree in business management. I didn't go to college to make packets, punch holes, and be a glorified secretary. That being said- I made the adult choice. Took my life by the reigns, quit my job, and started in a new industry where slackers get fired. Sound amazing? Let me know if you're in Nashville, Denver, Dublin, Singapore, or San Francisco (we have a great referral program).

I started this new job last week and it's been amazing. Like a jump out of bed even though it's early and you're ready to conquer the world amazing! But to say it's been easy to make a career jump with only 19 days until the wedding could be a lie. Yes you read that right, 19. Am I going crazy? Maybe a little bit. Did I make the best decision of my life (other than my handsome groom)? Yes I did. Nobody is going to drop a great career in your lap, you've got to get up and make something out of your life.

Now onto bigger and better things, like out of town bags. If you're lucky enough to be coming to our wedding (you know I would invite all of you readers if I could!), this is what you'll be getting. We wanted the bag to have a Nashville feel from the first instant, so kraft was an easy choice. I picked up a super cute cowboy boot stamp (40% coupon thankyou) at Hobby Lobby, and added some curled white ribbon for the piece de resistance. Here's what's inside:
OOT Bags
Visit Nashville booklet
Tourism map
Chocolate and Vanilla Moon Pie (made in TN)
2 bottles of water
Trail Mix
Mixed Nuts
Cheez-its
Minty Lifesavers
Lance Crackers (my fave!)
Pringles (made in TN)
Mr. SE and I are going to add a welcome letter

OOT Bags
...and here they are in the bonus room, which has been renamed "room of wedding craziness"

What do you think? Would you be stoked to get one of these babies? I'd love to hear what types of things you did in out of town bags to make them specific for your wedding location!

The Final Countdown

The Final Countdown

The Final CountdownWe're at the two week mark and things are surprisingly calm over here at casa SE! I'm settling into the new job, and the training hours have been super conducive to running wedding errands in the afternoon. Our programs were just printed yesterday, and have been mailed to FMIL in Atlanta for assembly.

Mr. SE and I had a fun little adventure yesterday during our lunch break- we got our marriage license! The processes was simple as ever and we were in and out within a matter of minutes. The ladies working at the Davidson County Clerk were super sweet and were sweet enough to take multiple pictures of us. We walked out of there super happy, and it made for a great start to the weekend!The Final CountdownThe Final CountdownThe Final CountdownThe Final Countdown{proof that someone needs to keep doing their arm workouts}

Oh and this morning we realized that not only are we getting married in 14 days, but we're going to Mexico in 16! Woot!

Board #475: Orange Float

Board #475: Orange Float

How about a little retro for your day? Not that I'm not loving this springtime, but when I saw this photo of an orange cream float on Beth Helmstetter's blog, I could not resist a quick detour into summer. And, if you want to enjoy one of these treats without designing your entire wedding around it, here's a recipe from Country Living. (It really would make a cute party, though.)

Mood: tangerine dream
Palette: orange and creme

Homemade Pizza

por | | 0 comments

Homemade Pizza
I did it, you guys. I tried to make something with yeast.

Yeast is one of the most intimidating ingredients in cooking. If you're like me and generally sucked at chemistry, it's frightening beyond belief. I don't possess any real understanding of how any of this stuff works, but I knew the yeast part had to be perfect.

Where was this yeast going? Into my very first attempt (one of many future attempts, I'm sure) at making my own pizza dough! I decided to use a recipe from Deb of Smitten Kitchen.

Homemade PizzaFirst I combined flour, yeast and salt. Easy enough. Although, I have to admit, I had no idea yeast would look like little seeds when I opened the packet.

Then I was supposed to add lukewarm water. People, that seems easy enough, but in hindsight, I believe my water was still too cold. I understand that can affect the yeast...or something.

I then added olive oil and attempted to stir the big mess into a ball and what you see above is what I got. Hmm. Not quite what I pictured.

Homemade PizzaOn a floured surface, I rolled the dough into a ball, but it still wasn't as smooth as Deb's. Any clues, you guys?

Homemade PizzaI put the ball of dough into an oiled bowl and covered it with saran wrap and left it alone for two hours. See how my ball of dough is all wrinkly, like play-doh, rather than smooth? Seriously, what is that?

Needless to say, it grew an eensy bit in two hours but didn't rise as much as it should have. I figured I'd plow ahead anyway.

Homemade PizzaI dumped the ball of dough back onto the counter, covered it with saran wrap and let it sit 20 more minutes. After all that, I went ahead and pushed the bubbles out with the palms of my hands and rolled the dough.

I have to say, the consistency is awesome to feel. It gives, which is so strange and new after baking so many cookies and cakes. I like how pliant it felt, and how easily it stretched.

Homemade PizzaI rolled it into this sort of oblong shape and then placed it on a piece of parchment paper sprinkled with cornmeal. Now, I don't have a pizza stone (but I'd gladly accept one as a gift!), so I had to make do with the pizza pan we already have.

Deb has several recommendations in the entry I linked about making pizza without a stone, if you are like me and don't possess one.

Homemade PizzaI cheated and used pre-made sauce.

Homemade PizzaI decided to keep my first pizza simple and just made a basic pepperoni. I will definitely admit I might have overspiced it; I shook a LOT of Italian seasoning onto that bad boy.

Here's where things get really dicey. Deb suggested broiling pizza to get that lovely blistered cheese effect. One of my guests (we were hosting a movie night) showed up right around then and I immediately got kind of flustered and rushed around a little too much.

I popped the pizza under the broiler (way too close, I realized soon after) and came back to find the top was perfectly cooked but the crust hadn't cooked at all. It was a pretty devastating moment.

I then set my oven to 550 (the highest temp I'm comfortable with) and popped the pizza back in. The crust cooked this time, but not before the top TOTALLY burnt.

Homemade PizzaSo yeah. Kind of a mess.

But you know what's so great about pizza? It's still good burnt. The crust was really flavorful and almost had a focaccia quality; it wasn't perfect but it still had a homemade taste you just can't get from frozen or delivery pizza.

I'm definitely trying this again and soon. Deb has a variation on the recipe that subs white wine for water and adds honey; I think that sounds like the makings of an amazing white pizza.

Scrub a Dub

Scrub a Dub

Scrub a DubThe Bath and Body Works antibacterial collection is my absolute favorite. In fact, I wash my hands WAY more than necessary because I can't get enough of the Frosted Orange Spice that's in our master bath. Love is not a strong enough word. So my friends, I always try and let you know when they're having a sale. This one is colossal! Seriously unheard of prices. Unfortunately I won't be hitting the sale. Why? Because I have a stockpile of about 10 right now.

Does anybody else have an obsession with the Bath and Body Works soaps? If so- what's your favorite scent?
