OOT Bags

OOT Bags

OOT Bags
Oh hello there- remember me? I'm the girl that thought she could take on a million things before the wedding (moving, starting a new job, buying a foreclosure, moving again, and starting a new job). What's that? You think I wrote start a new job twice? That's because I did.

I was lucky enough to land a job at one of the "Best Places to Work", and had been working there since last August. But here's the thing- I'm driven, and I worked my butt off to get a degree in business management. I didn't go to college to make packets, punch holes, and be a glorified secretary. That being said- I made the adult choice. Took my life by the reigns, quit my job, and started in a new industry where slackers get fired. Sound amazing? Let me know if you're in Nashville, Denver, Dublin, Singapore, or San Francisco (we have a great referral program).

I started this new job last week and it's been amazing. Like a jump out of bed even though it's early and you're ready to conquer the world amazing! But to say it's been easy to make a career jump with only 19 days until the wedding could be a lie. Yes you read that right, 19. Am I going crazy? Maybe a little bit. Did I make the best decision of my life (other than my handsome groom)? Yes I did. Nobody is going to drop a great career in your lap, you've got to get up and make something out of your life.

Now onto bigger and better things, like out of town bags. If you're lucky enough to be coming to our wedding (you know I would invite all of you readers if I could!), this is what you'll be getting. We wanted the bag to have a Nashville feel from the first instant, so kraft was an easy choice. I picked up a super cute cowboy boot stamp (40% coupon thankyou) at Hobby Lobby, and added some curled white ribbon for the piece de resistance. Here's what's inside:
OOT Bags
Visit Nashville booklet
Tourism map
Chocolate and Vanilla Moon Pie (made in TN)
2 bottles of water
Trail Mix
Mixed Nuts
Cheez-its
Minty Lifesavers
Lance Crackers (my fave!)
Pringles (made in TN)
Mr. SE and I are going to add a welcome letter

OOT Bags
...and here they are in the bonus room, which has been renamed "room of wedding craziness"

What do you think? Would you be stoked to get one of these babies? I'd love to hear what types of things you did in out of town bags to make them specific for your wedding location!

Banana: The Love Affair Continues

Banana: The Love Affair Continues
Just when I think they've designed all the best clothes possible- they come out with this stunner. Tried it on, it's amazing. I love how they styled it with patterned tights here. The patterned tights trend is great, but I'm not sure how to incorporate it into my wardrobe. What are your thoughts on patterned tights? If you rock them, tell me how you work it into your day-to-day clothes.

Sponsored Post: Feathers & Frills

As much as I absolutely love veils, lately I'm finding myself drawn to pretty headbands and flower headpieces, like these lovelies by Krystle of Feathers & Frills. She calls them confections, which sounds so perfect for such sweet and charming pieces. Here are just a few of the pretties you'll find in her Etsy shop.

Hop over to Feathers & Frills' shop to see all of the other bridal adornments that Krystle has listed - there's plenty more where these came from. And if you're anything like me, you'll have the hardest time choosing just one!

Palomas Nest

Palomas Nest

Palomas NestI'll go ahead and jump on the Paloma's Nest bandwagon. Mr. SE and I must have one of these for our ceremony. Because it will be Catholic (more on that later), the Deacon will bless our rings. This would be the perfect vessel for that!

And for after the wedding? This would look darling on a vanity (earrings or change), or next to a sink (ring bowl). At this price, I think we'll take one for every bathroom. What's your favorite Etsy find so far?Palomas Nest
How darling is this "home" bowl? It would be perfect for a housewarming gift!

Way To Go Elon

Why wasn't I there when they stormed the library singing Miley? Jump to 0:45 for the good stuff. Please ignore the stupid people talking in the background.

The Elon video isn't great quality- but it's still pretty amusing. Here's a better video with my fav song. These boys make me laugh!

Kate Spade Twirl

por | | 0 comments

Kate Spade TwirlI've been needing a new day-to-day fragrance for a while now. I have a couple of very heady evening-only perfumes, one of which is Givenchy's L'Interdit that my dearly departed grandmother gave me when I turned 17. I'm preserving those last few drops, so I like to have a lighter, easy-to-wear fragrance for daily life. I was addicted to Lavanila's Vanilla Grapefruit, but I used it all up a few months ago, so I think it's time to try something new.

The ad for Kate Spade's new perfume, Twirl, caught my eye in my Vogue last night and I gave it a big, hearty whiff. Hard to tell from a magazine loaded with 15 other perfume samples, but it smelled very me. I like to test-drive perfumes before committing too much, so I'm thinking I might get an $18 rollerball. I'll let you know how it goes!

Tim Gunn, of Project Runway fame, is working with Kate Spade to promote their Spring line and made a stop at their Northpark Center store in Dallas on April 29, 2009. He gave a style show using outfits that "everyone has in their closet" like jeans and a white T-shirt and a little black dress to illustrate his style points - that it's all about the accessories. He showed off the Kate Spade collection which is varied, bright and fun! See Tim's tips here for Spring style.

Rachel Zoe Project: Season II

Rachel Zoe Project: Season II

I am obsessed with Rachel Zoe. She's over the top, way too dramatic, and I can't get enough. Last year my roommate and I drooled over every single eposide of Season I. Loved it when Brad & Taylor had to share a room during NY's fashion week- hilarious.

Because of a prior engagement, I missed the premier on Monday night. But no worries- I DVR'd it to watch later this week. The fashion inspires me and I can't wait for the next episode. Here's my favorite look from the show last night...Rachel Zoe Project: Season II

Board #450: Gingerbread and Lavender

Board #450: Gingerbread and Lavender

This is sort of a mini-inspiration board - it just worked better this way than with any of the other images I tried to fit into it. Sometimes less is more...

If you're a winter bride who loves lavender, how about a bouquet of dried lavender, wrapped in soft velvet ribbon? After the ceremony, treat your guests to dessert and champagne (I'm dead set on bringing this type of reception back, can you tell?). Gingerbread linzertorte is a perfectly appropriate, yet totally unexpected, winter wedding "cake." Each dessert certainly doesn't need to be color coordinated, but the table also doesn't have to look like a middle school bake sale. Arrange things thoughtfully, maybe with a small vase of flowers, and let this table of sweets be the focal point in the room. Unless you're lucky enough to hold your reception in a room with a working fireplace - that would be the perfect focal point for a winter wedding. You'll have one less thing to worry about if you skip the party favors, though you might make small glassine bags available for guests to take some chocolate truffles home with them.

So what do you think? Can you still get a sense of this wedding with only 6 images?

Mood: sweet and simple
Palette: gingerbread, faded lavender, rosé

Things are winding down here at Snippet & Ink - this is the last inspiration board of 2009! I've still got a few beautiful posts lined up for you, though, before heading out for the holiday. Later this morning, I'll be posting a beautiful shoot that Janie Medley, Courtney Spencer, Katie Stoops, and some other talented folks put together just for us! It's full of winter and holiday inspiration for a wedding or dinner party, so don't miss out on that. Also, don't forget to enter in the Ban.do giveaway before Thursday at midnight!
