Obsessed

Obsessed
Allow me to introduce you to the Calvin Klein "Remini". All of my work pumps are CK "Dolly", and they're so comfortable. I am 100% obsessed with this shoe. My love (Zappos) carries it in some strange color varieties, as does Macy's. But what I'm lusting over is this delicious gunmetal color. It's such a statement shoe, but this color makes it more of a neutral piece. So if you find this shoe, in gunmetal, in a size 7: let me know. I will probably knock you over to get to it. I apologize in advance.

Welcome Back

Welcome Back

Welcome Back{my thinkpad isn't lonely now that the internet is back}

Oh, hello there friends! The SE's are now back in the 21st century. Luckily I had a half day at work, and I was able to meet my knight in shining armor between 3-5pm. Who's that, you ask? The Comcast internet installer of course. We've been living in the dark ages for almost a month now, and I'm sure I came incredible close to losing it several times.

Recently I realized that we're a hash over 90 (92 to be exact) days from the wedding, and I'm beginning to panic. There was so much time spent enjoying our "fiance" glow, and relishing in all that is wedding idea gathering (or researching as I like to call it). But guess what? It's time to buckle down and make some decisions. Ahem- Mr. SE if you're reading this...that means you marching your fanny down to Men's Wearhouse and picking out some tuxes!

Luckily Mama SE is making another trip to Nashville this weekend, sans my dad, and we'll be doing a lot of lists, charts, and timelines. My favorite! Mom and I are going to make a game-plan of how to get different diy projects done, and delegate tasks for everyone to handle. If you are close to me- look out- I might have a task for you too!

So that was a random word vomit of what's been on my mind the past couple days. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some laundry to put in the dryer and a dog that needs to go out.

Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

por | | 0 comments

Double Chocolate Chip CookiesMy brown sugar was really giving me sass the other day.

I had decided to make Martha Stewart's chewy chocolate chip cookies with white and semisweet chocolate chips.

But lo and behold, my brown sugar was a brick. Seriously, I could break windows with that brown sugar. I could build homes with that sugar. It was ridiculous.

I googled all the tricks for softening brown sugar and found this one to work (sort of; the sugar still clumped like crazy):
1. Place sugar (still in bag) in the microwave alongside a cup of water.
2. Heat for 3 minutes.
Sugar should be softer after that.

The sugar hardens because of lost moisture; anyone have a storage tip for brown sugar to avoid this?

Double Chocolate Chip CookiesAnyways, I added the sugar to a stick of butter and granulated sugar. Then I beat it until it got "fluffy." I put fluffy in quote marks because if anything, the clumpy brown sugar just got clumpier until it looked like I was making a breakfast cereal. But whatever; you know me, I just steamroll ahead.

Double Chocolate Chip CookiesAdded the vanilla and eggs, then beat it into oblivion.

Double Chocolate Chip CookiesOooh pretty.

Double Chocolate Chip CookiesI slowly added the flour/baking soda mixture.

Double Chocolate Chip CookiesWhich eventually turns the batter into this thick mass.

Double Chocolate Chip CookiesI folded the white and chocolate chips into the batter, dropped it in clumps on my cookie sheets and voila:

Double Chocolate Chip CookiesCOOKIES!

About these cookies: They were good, they tasted like cookies, they looked like cookies. But they were way cakier than they should have been; I'm figuring this has something to do with the butter temperature (it got very soft while I was wrestling with the brown sugar brick) and maybe the brown sugar?

I'm starting to realize I might have to actually learn what different ingredients do to achieve different consistencies. LOL. I'm sure you all just read that and said, "ABOUT TIME!"

Have a great weekend you guys! I think I'm going to try pizza again.

Banana: The Love Affair Continues
Just when I think they've designed all the best clothes possible- they come out with this stunner. Tried it on, it's amazing. I love how they styled it with patterned tights here. The patterned tights trend is great, but I'm not sure how to incorporate it into my wardrobe. What are your thoughts on patterned tights? If you rock them, tell me how you work it into your day-to-day clothes.

Accesorize Me: Shoe Edition Part II

Accesorize Me: Shoe Edition Part II

This isn't the first time I've posted about my wedding shoes. It's been an ongoing saga. The previous Nina shoes didn't work out, and I decided that closed-toe shoes would be too hot for our August affair.

So after ordering 7 pairs of shoes from Zappos (free shipping both ways = amazing), I have finally found my wedding shoe. She's so pretty and perfect and I just love how secure she makes my ankle feel. It goes without saying that we're a perfect match made in bridal heaven. She's currently a lovely shade of white satin, but she'll be sporting a more stylish look on our wedding day.

I'm going to have the shoes dyed at Peabody Shoe Repair in Hillsboro Village. Bridesmaid Nicole (former pageant queen- woot!) assures me that dyeing shoes is safe, as she did it all the time for pageants. I trust her- as of now.

Here are my precious/sassy wedding shoes...
