Dressing the Men of the Wedding

Dressing the Men of the Wedding

So much time is spent deciding the bridal gown, shoes, and accessories. And if you've ever been a bride, or involved in a wedding, you know the bridesmaid dress selection isn't a walk in the park either. So why make a quick decision and overlook the men who will play a role on your big day? Mr. SE looks guh-or-gus in a tux- like double take levels of handsomeness.

Dressing the Men of the Wedding{in case you wanted to see proof of the hottness}

He knew from the start that he wanted the guys to wear a tux, and I left the rest up to him. Trust and let go, trust and let go. I have to keep repeating it to myself so I don't freak sometimes! What did my handsome almost-husband pick? A winning combination in my book!

If you recall, the bridesmaids are wearing cobalt blue cocktail length dresses. Mr. SE decided that he didn't want his guys in a color, and would instead let the bridesmaids shine (what a gentleman). Here's what he picked. The base is a Calvin Klein tux for all: black vest and tie for groomsmen, white vest and tie for Mr. Groom, and navy vest/tie for our dads. I love it! So classic and beautiful. The men will have boutonnieres of white orchids tied with gold ribbon (from Hillary @ Brocade, in case you forgot). Here's how they'll look together...Dressing the Men of the WeddingDressing the Men of the WeddingDressing the Men of the Wedding

Our rentals are from Men's Wearhouse in Mt. Juliet (I reazlied last year its WEAR not WARE. How cute is that!?!?). Their staff is fantastic and couldn't be more helpful. We love how the guys can visit their local MW to get fitted, and pick them up at the store in Mt. Juliet for the wedding.

Board #487: Summer Honey

Board #487: Summer Honey

The beginning of a season is one of my favorite things - it always feels as though that season is the one I love most of all. Right now (of course) it's summer. I love the sunshine and how nice it is to be outside all day long. I love that cherries and berries are actually affordable and delicious. That dinner is always as simple as it gets, and rarely requires cooking that doesn't happen on a grill. And that it's light out until bedtime. So it's really no surprise that today's inspiration board is easy going and totally simple. Iced tea and honey jars, sun dresses and a picnic basket. Sounds like a delightful way to spend the day, whether or not you're getting married in the summer months.

Mood: sweetness and light
Palette: sunshine, honey, wheat

Testing, Testing 1 2 3

Testing, Testing 1 2 3

I'd like to interrupt the scheduled blog break for two important announcements...

Numero Uno: I cleared out the Bath & Body Works sale last weekend. I literally robbed the Mt. Juliet store. If you wanted any black amethyst or black raspberry vanilla, sorry it's gone. And currently living in my bathroom. I cannot put into words how much I love their buy 3 get 3 free sales. My bathroom is like a WWII bunker, only the Bath & Body Works version. Their new triple moisture body cream is currently my favorite thing. It will change your life. And if not your life, it'll definitely liven up that nasty fall/winter skin.
Testing, Testing 1 2 3

{hello lover}

Numero Dos: I got to wear jeans to work today, since we'll be moving around a lot in preparation for reunion. And guess what? Someone fit into their old jeans today!!! And that someone was me. Success!

Accesorize Me: Shoe Edition Part II

Accesorize Me: Shoe Edition Part II

This isn't the first time I've posted about my wedding shoes. It's been an ongoing saga. The previous Nina shoes didn't work out, and I decided that closed-toe shoes would be too hot for our August affair.

So after ordering 7 pairs of shoes from Zappos (free shipping both ways = amazing), I have finally found my wedding shoe. She's so pretty and perfect and I just love how secure she makes my ankle feel. It goes without saying that we're a perfect match made in bridal heaven. She's currently a lovely shade of white satin, but she'll be sporting a more stylish look on our wedding day.

I'm going to have the shoes dyed at Peabody Shoe Repair in Hillsboro Village. Bridesmaid Nicole (former pageant queen- woot!) assures me that dyeing shoes is safe, as she did it all the time for pageants. I trust her- as of now.

Here are my precious/sassy wedding shoes...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!

por | | 0 comments

Some people are just naturals at being domesticated.

My friend Nicole was like that. She comes from this big Italian family and she loves to cook and make sure everyone is happy and stuffed. She can whip together a homemade tiramisu, paint her own porch, replace her own doors and mow her own lawn.

I stayed with her briefly before I moved in with Sean and during that time, her kitchen table was covered with germinating seeds. By the time she planted her little soil squares, she'd have more herbs than I would know what to do with. Her house had plants in literally every room, spilling over bookshelves and cupboards. It was awesome.

I am pretty much the opposite. I have tried to grow a plant twice in my life: sunflowers in 2nd grade (planted in a spot that got literally no sunlight) and lima beans for a 3rd grade class project. So imagine my thrill when I opened one of my gifts from my stepmother: a Chia herb garden!!

Cue the theme song.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!CH-CH-CH-Chia!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!The herb garden came with six spice packets...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!And these incredible (and poorly photographed) Chia-trademarked soil sponges. Seriously, they are amazing. The kit also included 3 terra cotta planters and plastic plant markers.

The instruction were:
1. Wet soil sponge. Squeeze it. Put it in planter.
2. Sprinkle seeds on top.
3. Water it again.

For the germination period (which was all of 4 days), I put sandwich baggies over the pots to mimic a greenhouse effect. And then, suddenly out of nowhere, this happened:

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!OMG. I have plants!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!Basil and Cilantro. Parsley is not pictured.

I am SO excited. Now the only trick is getting these poor plants enough light, since we are majorly sunlight deprived.

I feel totally energized by this experience, but I feel like I'm fooled by the ease of Chia. I'd like to have some flowers or houseplants on the porch or inside. Do you guys have any suggestions of easy beginner plants that are good for apartments?

Luscious Yellow & Blue

Luscious Yellow & Blue

Ariella Chezar and Meg Smith have one last gorgeous shoot to share with us, and I've saved it for last because the bouquet is one of my favorite floral designs ever. It may seem familiar to you, either from Ariella's portfolio, or because I've included it in so many inspiration boards - it's irresistible! And the rest of these details are just as lovely...

The "bride" wears J.Crew's Sophia dress and yellow cymbidium orchids in her hair. The "ring bearer" wears a crown of muscari.

The bouquet includes cattleya orchids, garden roses, yellow abutilon and bear claw fern foliage, and is adorned with dramatically long yellow and blue ribbons.

Sigh. I want to live inside these photo shoots... I don't think I can convey how delightful it has been to share so much gorgeous inspiration from two of my very favorite wedding artists - and they truly are artists. It has been such an honor and a treat for me to share their work with you, and I hope you've found as much inspiration from these images as I have. Thank you so much to Ariella Chezar and Meg Smith - maybe they'll stop by again in the future!
