So much time is spent deciding the bridal gown, shoes, and accessories. And if you've ever been a bride, or involved in a wedding, you know the bridesmaid dress selection isn't a walk in the park either. So why make a quick decision and overlook the men who will play a role on your big day? Mr. SE looks guh-or-gus in a tux- like double take levels of handsomeness.

He knew from the start that he wanted the guys to wear a tux, and I left the rest up to him. Trust and let go, trust and let go. I have to keep repeating it to myself so I don't freak sometimes! What did my handsome almost-husband pick? A winning combination in my book!
If you recall, the bridesmaids are wearing cobalt blue cocktail length dresses. Mr. SE decided that he didn't want his guys in a color, and would instead let the bridesmaids shine (what a gentleman). Here's what he picked. The base is a Calvin Klein tux for all: black vest and tie for groomsmen, white vest and tie for Mr. Groom, and navy vest/tie for our dads. I love it! So classic and beautiful. The men will have boutonnieres of white orchids tied with gold ribbon (from Hillary @ Brocade, in case you forgot). Here's how they'll look together...
Our rentals are from Men's Wearhouse in Mt. Juliet (I reazlied last year its WEAR not WARE. How cute is that!?!?). Their staff is fantastic and couldn't be more helpful. We love how the guys can visit their local MW to get fitted, and pick them up at the store in Mt. Juliet for the wedding.
I am really bad at eating healthy, good lunches at work. I tend to eat a mix of leftover chips, Diet Coke, yogurt and breakfast bars.
But last week our office went out to lunch at The Baker's Crust, where I spotted the "Wine Country Salad" on the menu and thought, "Geez, I could make that at home."
It makes for a great lunch, with ingredients you could use in myriad other recipes so you aren't stuck with a bunch of stuff you wouldn't use again. You will need:
Strawberries
Grapes
Mixed Greens
Crostini (or croutons)
Goat Cheese
Candied pecans (optional)
Raspberry Vinaigrette
I used this (VERY EXPENSIVE) belle chevre goat cheese with Ile de France crackers that could easily become bread crumbs if I don't find myself using them again.
I also used this Olde Cape Cod raspberry vinaigrette, but it was really just okay. Go light with it; I was a little heavy-handed in the pouring.
Smear the chevre on the crackers and place on top of the salad, or use them as accompaniment on the side.
It was a delicious, sophisticated salad with simple ingredients. The goat cheese elevates it to the expensive realm, but I think this would be a great salad to serve at parties or to guests (wine party and cheese party, perhaps?).
After the ceremony, our guests toured the Mariners Museum for an hour while we headed outside the museum to take pictures. My photographer, Ryan Burke, and I had plotted out what pictures we hoped to get two nights before the wedding. I can't recommend this enough; we wrote down all the combinations of family/bridal party we hoped to get, along with what detail shots were crucial. For the editing style, we talked about capturing a dreamy quality without making it over-Photoshopped. Ryan aimed to get an "Amelie" look to the pictures, which was my goal as well.
I asked my bridesmaids to choose their own red dresses from wherever they wanted, for however much they wanted to pay. The only real requirements I had were that their dresses be wedding-appropriate, knee-length and that I have approval before they commit to something. That was to ensure we were all on the same page, and also that one person didn't get a radically different dress.
Many people were concerned that this wouldn't be possible with the color red, which has so many variances, but I think it turned out great! My girls bought their dresses at Nordstrom, David's Bridal and Ross. I asked them to wear gold shoes, as well, which I think are a closet staple.
I wanted my bridesmaids to be comfortable and pretty, but most importantly, I wanted them to look like themselves. I hoped they would be able to express their style while looking somewhat unified, and I wanted them to look gorgeous and chic. I didn't want my friends to look like a sad, unhappy Army in unflattering dresses in unflattering colors that they have no hope of wearing again.
I ordered heart-shaped balloons off of Amazon, and they arrived on Friday night! I had given up on any hope that they would come in time, but they did, and Miranda had them filled. They were used to guide guests to the venue, then we grabbed a few for pictures.
The boys bought their suits at Men's Wearhouse. They were just asked to buy light gray suits, and I thought they looked very handsome. Sean bought their ties, which had a very subtle diagonal check pattern, from the J.Crew outlet store.
The museum has this fake wooden ship outside, and the boys convinced me to climb up there for pictures. It was totally frightening, trying to climb a ladder up onto the deck, and when I was climbing down, I ended up throwing my shoes down the shaft and having to ask Sean to push the layers of my dress down so it didn't go over my head! It was quite an adventure.
My bridesmaids' beautiful hairsdos! Sarah made each of us sparkly fabric hairpins, like the one you see in Jamie's hair.
I had worried that the hour in between the ceremony and reception wouldn't be enough time for my minions to transition the space to party-ready, but it turned out to be plenty of time to take pictures and transform the space.

Weekend Shopping I'm teetering on the line of a migraine, so I don't feel like coming up with much to say. On Saturday I did some shopping, and here's the recap.
Bath and Body Works candle sale. 2 for $20. I picked up two Sea Island Cotton, one Tropical Breeze (w/odor eliminator, we'll see how that works), and one Green Tea and Pear. Mom sent me a coupon for a free signature item with purchase, so I picked up Sea Island Cotton body creme.
At Old Navy I picked up a pair of white jeans (mine are trouser style, no photo online), a maxi dress, and jean skirt. I got another cute striped dress, but there aren't any pictures online. Wishing that they had this romper- hopefully they'll get another shipment. It'd be great for our honeymoon. Have you bought any spring goodies yet?
I'm not sure if your idea of an amazing honeymoon is all about peace and serenity (that would be my idea). But if it is, then the Banyan Tree Mayakoba looks dreamy. Banyan Tree Mayakoba uses the internationally accredited EarthCheck Program to carefully manage and measure the amount of energy and water consumed as a result of the event. Today's wedding board was inspired entirely by Silvana di Franco's photo of the red folding bistro chairs. The simplicity, the muted colors. Like yesterday's inspiration board, something about it feels like this early part of Spring - soft gray with glimpses of color. Used judiciously, red is one of my favorite colors. It has so many moods, from playful to sexy. Here, I think it's both sophisticated and sweet. For this couple, I imagine a low-key luncheon with just a few perfect details - personalized menus, a single peony instead of a bouquet, a getaway bicycle - and just their closest friends and family.
